The Environmental Entrepreneurship Program (EEP) provides funding to eligible minority serving institutions (MSIs) on a competitive basis to engage students to pursue advanced academic study and entrepreneurship opportunities in the NOAA-related sciences.  The program requires partnerships between MSIs and NOAA. Relationships must be formed with academic, research, government, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills, tools, and technology to foster environmentally sustainable and economically viable local communities.

What is Environmental Entrepreneurship?

For the purposes of this program, Environmental Entrepreneurship is defined as a program to provide student training in the application of NOAA sciences to create business opportunities. To achieve this, MSIs established partnerships with the academic community, NOAA, and the public and private sector. Together, they engage students in compliment of entrepreneurial training and technical skills in environmental sciences that will promote commerce and economic development.

In FY05 the program provided funding in two categories:

High School Pipeline Projects

Environmental Demonstration Projects
